Mountain View's Tristan Askan (8) lets one fly.

One game that intrigues me…..

No. 10 Desert Vista (6-4) at Mountain View (7-3)

Desert Vista served notice that things were heading in the right direction when it beat Desert Ridge on a Thursday night game.

The Jaguars did some things down the stretch to make it possible, but the Thunder finished it off for the win.

It was a sign that things turned around for Desert Vista after losing to Perry and Skyline – seeded third and fourth respectively – in similar fashion.

The Thunder are in a place that has them believing behind Nick Thomas’ gutsy play Lelon Dillard’s leadership and a defense a that has started making stops and creating turnovers.

The Toros have been a streaky group.

Mountain View opened with three wins, lost three straight, and closed the year with four wins. The one win that was possibly surprising down the stretch came against Red Mountain.

Over that time the first-year coach Mike Fell’s influence started to take hold.

He’s had to change some of the thinking at the corner of Brown and Lindsay and it has started to happen.

A playoff win helps cement what Fell has been preaching since taking over the program.
