Fountain Hills coach Jim Fairfield is hoping for some heat, lots of heat. Anything that will give his desert heat-tested team a little edge over the Yellow Jackets.

Blue Ridge returns its do-everything player, Frank Parkinson. The senior led Blue Ridge in rushing (1,017 yards), receiving (26 catches for 392 yards) and scoring (19 touchdowns) last season. He was also second on the team in tackles with 115. It’s safe to say that as Parkinson goes, so go the Yellow Jackets.

Fountain Hills is rebuilding. A key to that process is the growth of junior quarterback Jason Fairfield, son of the coach. He knows the system almost as well as his dad, so if he can turn that knowledge into yards and touchdowns, the Falcons have a chance at a good year.
