HS Football: Queen Creek vs. Williams Field

Shavez Hawkins (4) of Williams Field runs the ball during the first half of the high school football game between Queen Creek and Williams Field at Williams Field high school on Friday, October 28, 2016 in Gilbert, Arizona.

The final rankings had some movement, including a new top-ranked team for the first time all year, after the regular season came to an end.

Desert Edge’s surprising 6-3 double overtime loss to Verrado moved undefeated Williams Field to No. 1 in the 5A Conference after squeaking past Queen Creek with a touchdown on 4th down in the fourth quarter.

The other five conference No. 1s have been place all year or very close to it.

Mountain Pointe, Saguaro, Sabino and Santa Cruz enter the postseason as the Tribune’s favorite.

The final seeding by the AIA/MaxPreps power rankings sees some of the conferences a little differently.

Mountain Pointe (6A) and Saguaro (5A) earned the No. 1 seed, but Williams Field is No. 2 behind Cienega.

In 3A Sabino is fifth and Show Low is No. 1, and Santa Cruz is No. 2 behind No. 1 Show Low.

It’s time to find out who is the real No. 1.
