Girls Soccer: Desert Vista vs. Highland

First Team:

Amanda Witherow Sr. GK Highland A virtual brick wall in the goal. Allowed only 13 goals while notching 155 saves.

Maddie Wolf Sr. D Corona del Sol The anchor of a young Aztecs back line. Signed to Arizona State.

Makenna Dunn Sr. D Perry Versatile player who was second on the team in goals scored (eight) and led the team in assists (20).

Samantha Iannone Jr, D Desert Vista Her control of the defense, which allowed 1 goal in the playoffs, helped lead the Thunder to state title game.

Devyn Nall Jr. D Basha Helped Basha to a 14-4-4 record and has also been a key piece in turning the program into a contender.

Zorena Hazen Sr. MF Highland Only netted two goals on the year but totaled a team-high 236 steals and made her defenders’ lives easier.

Gabby Martinez Sr. MF Hamilton Do-it-all player who was equal parts facilitator, defender and capable scorer.

Kylie Miniefield Sr MF Hamilton Led the Huskies with 11 goals and four assists while directing her team from the midfield.

Brianna Hatch Sr. F Highland BYU recuit did a little bit of everything scoring 22 goals while chipping in 14 assists as well for state champs. Jacque Dompier Sr. F Campo Verde Dynamic scorer who led the Coyotes with 18 goals en route to a state runner-up finish in Division II.

Tatum Heeres Sr. F Desert Vista The tip of the spear for the Thunder, totaled 19 goals on the year.

Second Team:

Amanda Canzona So. GK Campo Verde She made 111 saves and let only 11 shots get past her. She may be young but has a high ceiling.

Sebrina Rodriguez Jr. D Campo Verde Scored 16 goals as a defender and even chipped in 10 assists.

Sarina Stockton Sr. D Highland Tallied 124 steals and even scored three goals on a stout back line.

Maia Gajate Jr. D Campo Verde Didn’t score as many goals - 0 to be exact - as Rodriguez, but was nonetheless the anchor of the Coyotes’ defense.

Kendyl Traube Sr. D Hamilton On a young back line, Traube was the veteran leader keeping the Huskies’ defenders in sync.

Emily Romer Sr. MF Perry Scored five goals and added four assists on the year for the Pumas.

Hannah Householder Sr. MF Basha Tied for second on the team in scoring with six goals and added five assists.

Gina Bracamonte Jr. MF Perry Tallied seven goals on the year from the midfield while also setting up her teammates with seven assists.

Tori Rinsem Jr. F Highland Second on the team in goals (16) and contributed 17 assists to boot.

Olivia Nguyen Fr. F Corona del Sol Led the Aztecs with 15 goals and 14 assists in her first year at the high school level.

Paige Maling So. F Desert Vista Totaled seven goals to help fill the void created by Olive Jones’ torn ACL that forced her to miss the season.
