After serving as Mesa Community College’s athletic director on an interim basis for the past year, Dan Dunn has been selected from a pool of 40 applicants to fill the position on a permanent basis, according to an announcement Wednesday by the school’s president, Larry K. Christiansen.

During Dunn’s tenure, the Thunderbirds won the 2004-2005 Pepsi/NATYCAA Award for having the No. 1 overall athletic program in the country among two-year colleges in the National Junior College Athletic Association Scholarship Division.
