A head-on collision Wednesday morning in east Mesa killed a Maricopa County employee and left two others seriously injured.
About 7:50 a.m., a Chevrolet stake bed truck owned by Southwest Fasteners, and driven by 36-year-old Calixto Ramirez of Glendale, was traveling south in the 13000 block of South Ellsworth Road when it swerved into oncoming traffic, police said.
The truck collided with a Maricopa County pickup truck, killing the 52-year-old driver, who was identified as Henry Perez of Phoenix. The passenger crawled out. Both were wearing seat belts.
The 36-year-old Glendale man driving the Chevy and the passenger in the county truck, whose age is unknown, were flown to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn hospital. Their injuries were considered serious but not life-threatening. Police have not released their names.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
