A water line break has shut down northbound traffic on Gilbert Road between Palo Verde Street and Elliot Road in Gilbert.

The break, caused by construction crews Thursday, will halt traffic there through Monday, town officials advise. Southbound traffic is still allowed through.

With four construction projects ongoing at various points, the town's main downtown artery was already a route to avoid. Town officials say all motorists should especially avoid the Gilbert and Elliot roads intersection through Monday.
