The rubber match between the Desert Vista and Mountain Pointe boys volleyball teams this season comes in the form of a first-round state playoff matchup with a neutral site.

The two teams travel to Tucson and will play Saturday at noon at Sahuaro High with the winner advancing to take on the hosts at 2:30 p.m.

The winner of the second round match-up advances to Tuesday's Elite Eight.

The Thunder earned the 14th seed while Mountain Pointe was tabbed the 19th seed in the 24-team field.

Sahuaro is the third seed and undefeated at 18-0.

Desert Vista and Mountain Pointe split their regular season match-ups with each one going to five games.
