Queen Creek is updating its general plan — the town’s blueprint for future development.

The plan is scheduled to be updated about every five years. Queen Creek’s Planning and Zoning Commission will kick off the yearlong process at a public meeting 7 p.m. Wednesday at Town Hall, 22350 S. Ellsworth Road.

The current general plan was adopted in 2002 when the town had a population of less than 5,000. The Town Council decided to update the plan to incorporate projects that since have been completed and to help prepare for future growth.

The public will vote on the plan when complete.
