Mesa massage businesses

Mesa has approved tougher rules for massage establishments, trying to crack down on businesses that are fronts for prostitution. The regulations were adopted by the City Council on Monday, a year after the city approved another set of rules that failed to give police enough enforcement tools.

The city now requires parlor employees to post massage licenses in a prominent area, and Mesa will not give a license to operators or managers who are facing misdemeanor or felony charges in relation to any other massage operations. The rules also require a manager to be on duty and limit the amount of time an operation can claim to have a temporary manager.
