Downtown Mesa’s award-winning arts campus boasts an impressive line-up of concerts, plays, touring productions, festivals, artists’ studios and educational programs. Big-name performers are often found on stage here, but you’re just as likely to enjoy a performance from resident troupes like Mesa Encore Theatre, Symphony of the Southwest or Ballet Etudes. The five-gallery Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum hosts exihibts from local and national artists.

A resident company of downtown’s Mesa Arts Center, Ballet Etudes is known for its popular production The Nutcracker — a veritable East Valley holiday tradition — and its annual Nutcracker Sweet Tea at Mesa venue The Wright House. Created in 1986 to fulfill the artistic needs of serious young dancers who desire performing opportunities of the highest caliber, BE’s instructors offer youngsters an opportunity for expert training and high-caliber stage experience.

This national group, formerly known as the Mormon Choral Organization, began its Arizona chapter in 2009. With seven performing ensembles — six choirs and a symphony orchestra — Millennial provides a musical entry point for all ages, from 4 year olds to adults, training each in the structure and forms of traditional, sacred and classical music. All groups perform at Mesa Arts Center.
