Two local high schools are honoring veterans and first responders.
Military personnel and first responders get special treatment at the Friday, Oct. 14 football game at Valley Christian High School.
It’s the annual Stars & Stripes Night.
Veterans, active duty military, first responders and their families pay no admission to attend the game.
School leaders said the “team, school, and community would love the opportunity to recognize those who serve” with an on-field ceremony during halftime.
Honorees who plan to attend the game are asked to complete a brief form at vchsaz.org/stars-stripes-night-oct-14/ which will provide information for the halftime announcers.
The Trojans face Fountain Hills High School with a 7 p.m. kickoff at the school at 6900 W. Galveston St. in Chandler.
Desert Ridge is recongnizing the first responders in the community by inviting them to our game and selling special shirts with profits going to the 100 Club.
The 100 Club will be present as well as the Mesa PD Honor Guard who will be presenting colors. They will also have their air unit, police vehicles, incident command unit and a K-9 unit on display.
