"Mesa Police Chief Gascón announced that crime is down in Mesa. Announcements have been made in Gilbert, Tempe and Chandler that crime is also down. I believe this has more to do with Sheriff Joe Arpaio's efforts than actions by local city police departments although they are quick to have public news conferences to tout the fact, something that Sheriff Joe is always ridiculed for."
