Prep Highlights: Seton boys win first 4A-II golf match

Ryan Mahoney shot a 37 to place first and brother Kyle scored a 39 to tie for second to help Chandler Seton Catholic (155) defeat Chandler Perry (189) in a boys golf match at San Marcos Golf Resort in Chandler on Tuesday.

It was the Sentinels’ first victory in 4A Division II after winning back-to-back state championships in 3A.

Dalton Basha led the Pumas with a 44, good enough for fifth.


Caitlin Morgan won both her singles and doubles matches to lead Dobson to a 7-2 win over Alhambra at home in their season debut. ...

Theresa Wynn’s two victories were not enough as Skyline fell to North Canyon at home 7-2. ...

Alexa Hay and Julie Simpson both won their singles matches and then joined forces to win in doubles helping Corona del Sol cruise to a 9-0 victory at home over Highland. ...

Xavier defeated visiting Hamilton 5-4 in a 5A nonregion match. Alexis Salerno and Lindsey Hanson won the final doubles match 15-6, 15-2 to give the Gators the season opener.


Andrea Brookhouser had 22 digs to lead Fountain Hills to a 25-16, 25-22, 25-20 victory over visiting Chino Valley. Laura DeGeorge and Abby Villeneuve both added six kills in the Falcons win. ...

Behind Sammy Geiger’s gamehigh 16 assists, Cactus Shadows won their first game of the year 25-16, 25-11, 25-14, over visiting Cienega. Geiger also recorded five kills and two blocks. ...

Sara Bowden had 27 kills and Cassie Ronda added 17 kills to lead Corona del Sol to a 25-22, 17-25, 25-23, 25-19 over Mountain Ridge at home. Taylor Kesteloot contributed 46 assists for the Aztecs. ...

Desert Vista defeated visiting Xavier 25-19, 25-14, 25-17. Betsi Metter had 13 kills and 18 digs for the Thunder. Anna Gott added 24 digs. ...

Horizon defeated visiting Mountain View 20-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-23, 15-11. Leah Faltness had 16 kills for the Huskies.


David Russell, Devon Judge and Tyler Johnson each won at least two events to lead Desert Mountain (159) to an easy victory over Casa Grande (80.50) and North Canyon (79.5) at McDowell Mountain Ridge.


Desert Mountain (180) swept all swimming and diving events as they trounced North Canyon (78) and Casa Grande (68) at Mc-Dowell Mountain Ridge. Whitney Lopus, Angela Duckworth and Emily Barton were multiple winners for the Wolves.
