Mesa Desert Ridge is looking for a new boys basketball coach after Robb Floco resigned on Wednesday.
Floco, who guided Desert Ridge to its first winning season in his only year at the helm, said he is not sure what his next step will be.
When asked why he resigned, Floco said he would talk about that in the future, but declined comment for the time being.
“He just felt that at this time he needed to step back and kind of take inventory and decide what his future direction was going to be,” athletic director Darrell Stangle said.
The Jaguars, who were 4-23 in 2006-07 and 0-25 in 2005-06, went 17-11 this season and reached the quarterfinals of the 5A-II state tournament.
Floco came to Desert Ridge after turning around Casa Grande’s program as well. Casa Grande went 21-8 in ’06-07 after going 10-17 the previous season under Floco.
“I appreciate everything he did in the year he was here to give this program a jump-start that it needed,” Stangle said. “He has decided it’s not going to be a relationship that is going to go into the future.”
