Stephen Rogers scored 34 points to lead the Mountain View boys basketball team past St. Mary’s, 88-69, in the McClintock Holiday Shootout Thursday at McClintock High.

Jerryd Bayless scored 33 points for the Knights.

Rogers capped off his night with 11 rebounds and teammate Kendall Wallace had 16 points and seven assists for Mountain View (9-3).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Mickey McConnell scored 20 points to lead the way in Dobson’s 50-42 victory over Saguaro in the McClintock Shootout.

Nick Witherill scored 16 points and Taylor Janowicz added 11 Saguaro. . . .

In other McClintock Holiday Shootout games, Alex Miller and Alex Crum each scored 23 points in Horizon’s 78-65 victory over Marcos de Niza. Mychael Broom scored a game-high 38 points and Brandell Lake scored 11 for the Padres. Desert Mountain edged Basha 73-70 in overtime. Kevin Hassett scored 24 points for Desert Mountain. Rick Berry and Javon Jones each put in 17 points as Paradise Valley defeated Highland 67-47.

Chandler’s Eladio Rubio scored 30 points as the Wolves fell 79-71 to Phoenix Moon Valley. . . .

Matt Coakley scored 21 points and Tom Sow scored 17 as Notre Dame Prep fell to Sierra Vista Buena 64-61 in the third-place game of the Bradshaw Mountain Holiday Tournament. Both Coakley and Sow were named to the all-tournament team.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Shamesha Smith scored 19 points to lead host Valley Christian to a 46-39 victory over Surprise Willow Canyon in the championship game of the Valley

Christian Christmas Tournament.

Kim Wigboldy added nine points and six rebounds for the Trojans (12-3).. . . .

Antoinette Reed scored 18 points as Horizon beat Brock (Texas) 51-35 in the consolation round of the Energy Classic in Gillette, Wyo. . . .

GIRLS SOCCER

Este Rea’s goal two minutes into overtime gave Corona del Sol a 3-2 sudden-death victory over Gilbert in the quarterfinals of the Dobson Mustang Classic at Red Mountain Soccer Park in Mesa.

The Aztecs (11-1-1) forced overtime when Courtney Mayers scored with three minutes left in regulation.

Sam Conrad and Brittany Kaminski both scored a goal in the first half for Gilbert. . . .

In other Dobson Mustang Classic matches, Kayla Poe scored in the second minute of suddendeath overtime to lift Dobson over Ironwood 1-0. Lauren Baumgarten had the assist on the play, and goalie Danna Cravens had five saves to record her sixth straight shutout. . .

Tessa Bowie earned her eighth shutout of the season to help Mountain Pointe defeat Peoria 8-0 in the semifinals of the Independence Tournament.

Alexandra Elston had three goals for Mountain Pointe (11-0). . . .

BOYS SOCCER

Mountain Pointe was the only East Valley team to advance in the Dobson Mustang Classic. The Pride blanked Corona del Sol 4-0 to reach the semifinals.

In other tournament matches, Gilbert lost 3-1 to Glendale Ironwood, Tucson Catalina Foothills beat Hamilton 3-0 and Tucson Salpointe downed Dobson 3-0.
