Updated baseball rankings, as of April 8:

Division I

1. Hamilton 15-3

2. Desert Mountain 20-3

3. Sandra Day O’Connor 23-1

4. Desert Ridge 20-5

5. St. Mary’s 18-2

6. Gilbert 15-6

7. Mountain Pointe 12-4

8. Pinnacle 15-10

9. Brophy 13-6

10. Desert Vista 16-5

There is a change at the top, as Sandra Day O’Connor was blasted by Pinnacle, 16-6, for its first regular season loss. The record alone still merits O’Connor staying No. 1, but nine one-run victories this year lends itself to a bit of luck. Therefore, Hamilton and Desert Mountain each move up a spot, and these three teams seem certain to be title contenders next month. Desert Ridge has won nine in a row to stay at No. 4, while St. Mary’s and Gilbert (four straight wins apiece) stick in their spots. Mountain Pointe moves up to No. 7 following an undefeated week, while Pinnacle gains a spot by going 2-1 against Desert Mountain, O’Connor and Horizon in three straight days. Brophy is quietly rounding into form and moves up to No. 9 ahead of a big game against Hamilton on Tuesday, while Desert Vista rounds out the top 10.

Division II

1. Greenway 24-1

2. Liberty 13-1-1

3. Notre Dame 18-5

4. Sunnyslope 16-3-1

5. Sahuaro 16-3-1

6. Ironwood Ridge 16-4

7. Canyon del Oro 15-5

8. Seton Catholic 12-6

9. Shadow Mountain 15-5

10. Gila Ridge 17-2

Greenway handed Liberty its first loss of the season and has now won 22 consecutive games to jump to No. 1. Liberty drops down to No. 2, which forces Notre Dame to No. 3 despite an eight-game winning streak. Sunnyslope and Sahuaro remain in the top-5 after undefeated weeks, while Ironwood Ridge moves past Canyon del Oro after beating the Dorados on Tuesday. Seton Catholic enters the rankings on the strength of an eight-game winning streak, followed by Shadow Mountain, which narrowly lost to Sunnyslope last week. Gila Ridge remains at No. 10.

Division III

1. River Valley 18-1-1

2. Fountain Hills 20-3

3. Show Low 14-4

4. Willcox 14-3

5. Estrella Foothills 13-5

Fountain Hills lost twice last week to drop from the top spot, although the first came by a run to Estrella Foothills and the second was against Division II power Notre Dame. Show Low had an adventurous week, losing twice but also beating Winslow, Combs and Estrella Foothills, so it will stick at No. 3. Willcox stays at No. 4 and Estrella Foothills joins the rankings with the win over Fountain Hills.

Division IV

1. Yuma Catholic 15-1

2. Phoenix Christian 15-3

3. Desert Christian 14-3

4. Joy Christian 14-4

5. Tempe Prep 13-3

The top three stay the same after unblemished weeks. Pusch Ridge lost a pair of games last week and drops out, allowing Joy Christian to move up to No. 4. Tempe Prep is back in the top-5 after a nice comeback to beat Valley Lutheran on Friday to cap a 2-0 week.
