Brandon Lee capped off Coronado’s late-game rally with a game-winning, two-run double to give the Dons a 5-4 win over visiting Maricopa in a non-division baseball game Friday.
Coronado scored four runs in the sixth and seventh innings to overcome a 4-1 deficit. Lee knocked in three of those runs.
Dominic Rivera scored the winning run on Lee’s double to right field.
Lee also started the game for the Dons before being relieved by Houston Edwards in the fourth inning. Edwards pitched the final four frames to earn his first win of the season.
Elsewhere, Justin Schander threw a complete-game shutout and struck out nine batters to lead Perry to a 3-0 victory over visiting Skyline in a Division I, Section II game.
Collin Braithwaite hit a two-run home run in the third inning for the Pumas.
Jake Howard had two hits, including a home run, to help Mesquite to a 6-4 win over Chandler on the road in a Division I, Section II game.
Brad Holland went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Wildcats and John Ferrendelli went 1-for -2.
Dylan Rana pitched four innings and struck out three to earn his first win of the season.
Ferrendelli struck out six batters and gave up just 1 hit in three innings of relief.
Sterling Smith led Mountain View to a 13-2 drubbing of visiting Marcos de Niza in a Division I, Section III game.
Smith went 4-for-4 with a double, home run and five RBIs.
Zack Hyzdu also had a good showing at the plate for the Toros, going 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs.
Parker Traasdahl started for Mountain View and earned the win.
Chandler held on to defeat host Mesquite, 11-10, in a Division I, Section II game.
Jordan Blakesley went 2-for-4 and drove in five runs for the Wolves. Haley Barraza and Kayla Escobar each had two hits. Barraza knocked in two runs and Escobar drove in another.
Kristal Whiteside earned the victory for Chandler.
Breona Peralta, Alicia Enriquez and McKensey Madsen each had three hits for the Wildcats. Peralta had two doubles and three RBIs while Madsen stole two bases to go along with her three hits.
Breanna Macha threw a 3-hit shutout to power Red Mountain to a 2-0 win over visiting Casa Grande in a non-division game.
Macha struck out 12 batters en route to going the distance.
Haley Culley knocked in the game's only runs on a triple that scored Bri Gonzalez and Marian Ruf.
