State basketball roundup: Surrey Garden Christian girls fall in overtime

Jenna Pearson scored 21 points but it wasn't enough for Gilbert Surrey Garden Christian (26-6) as it fell to Rock Point 65-62 in overtime Thursday at Prescott Valley Bradshaw Mountain High School in a 1A state girls basketball tournament game. Amanda Martin added 18 points for the Knights.

In other 1A girls action: Fredonia defeated Bowie/San Simon, 60-51; St. David knocked off Duncan, 40-30; and Williams beat Fort Thomas, 61-54.

1A BOYS BASKETBALL

Defending state champion Surrey Garden Christian defeated Patagonia at Prescott High 68-54 and will advance to play Duncan today in a semifinal game at 6:15 p.m. at Jobing.com Arena.

In other games: Pima beat Mogollon, 62-55; St. Gregory defeated Fort Thomas, 61-49; and Duncan eliminated Valley Union, 36-27.

3A GIRLS BASKETBALL

Eighth-seeded Coolidge lost to top-seeded Globe 66-47 at Flagstaff.

In other second-round games: Ganado beat Window Rock, 46-43; Winslow defeated Alchesay, 64-53, and Monument Valley eliminated Safford, 68-49.

3A BOYS BASKETBALL

In second-round games: Estrella Foothills trounced Sedona Red Rock, 85-55; Chinle beat Monument Valley, 56-52; Payson defeated Chino Valley, 46-40, and Safford knocked out Parker, 70-61.
