Despite a defensive second half that nearly shut down Notre Dame Prep the Glendale Cardinals fell to the Saints, 42-14, Friday.
Notre Dame’s offense flew past Glendale at every chance, scoring all 42 points in the first half.
Glendale’s defense was able to shut down the Saints in the second half.
“They’ve got some good athletes,” said sophomore Jordan Geitz. “(Tyrese McGruder) and (Wilson Freeland) are really good athletes and we stopped them.”
Notre Dame coach Scott Bemis said that this game gave him and his team a lot to work on before the playoffs begin. He said that despite their 7-1 record, the Saints are only just now beginning to find a groove and understand their roles on the field.
Despite the Saints’ superior record, Bemis did not underestimate Glendale (3-2) in Friday’s matchup, considering them a threat to his team.
