Outlook: The Bears won’t be looking ahead to the playoffs this week.
Their rivalry with the Dust Devils is too strong for that. Even in Coolidge coach Carlo Hernandez’s house, this game brings out the emotion, since his wife, Maria, is a Santa Cruz alum.
However, the rivalry has been pretty one-sided lately and tonight the Dust Devils will need breaks to keep things competitive.
Since its loss to Seton, Coolidge has scored more than 40 points in four straight games and has yet to allow more than two touchdowns in a game.
The Dust Devils have some weapons on offense, particularly quarterback Chaz Hampton. Last week against Globe, Hampton had 163 yards rushing on 21 carries and nearly brought his team back from an 18-0 deficit, losing 18-15.
