Address: 1545 E. Copper St., Tucson
Records: Desert Mountain 2-2; Salpointe 2-2
Outlook: Baby steps. That’s the philosophy Desert Mountain is taking this season. So far, at 2-2, the Wolves have already eclipsed last season’s record, when they finished 1-9.
With less-than-monumental wins over Casa Grande and Phoenix Carl Hayden, what’s most important for coach John Burke’s squad is the fact that the Wolves are winning when they’re supposed to, and playing more competitive football than they have in a while.
A single score away from a 3-1 record and a wave of momentum, the Wolves likely won’t catch sleeping giant Salpointe off guard this week. This year’s Lancers may not be in the class of some of the program’s best teams, but they
shouldn’t struggle with Desert Mountain.
