Outlook: With two of the state’s top quarterbacks under center — Cactus Shadows’ Phillip Aholt and Notre Dame’s Sean Renfree — and two teams not shy about passing, expect plenty of fireworks through the air.
The Falcons, the top-ranked team in 4A-II power points, continue to excel in coach Chad DeGrenier’s spread-it-out offense. They put up 31 points last week against Prescott Valley Bradshaw Mountain, including 224 yards passing and four touchdowns for Aholt.
Notre Dame ended a two-game losing streak last week with a win over Phoenix Sunnyslope, and an upset of Cactus Shadows would almost certainly guarantee a playoff berth.
