VX Roundup 3/13: Nay's blast leads Hamilton past Mtn. Pointe

Mitch Nay smacked a 3-run home run in the bottom of the third inning, to help host Hamilton to a 5-3 victory over Mountain Pointe.

Nay's big inning gave the Huskies a 4-0 lead heading into the fifth, where the Pride battled back to score three runs jump started by Scott Kingery's RBI triple.

Hamilton got one back in the bottom of the inning, though, and it gave Parker Gallegos a two-run cushion he made stick as he held Mountain Pointe (5-3-1) scoreless in the final two innings to pick up the save.

Pitcher Patrick Murphy got the win for the Huskies (8-1), pushing his record to 3-0 on the year.

Softball

Tess McPherson struck out 15 batters and drove in two runs to lead host Notre Dame to a 4-3 victory over Paradise Valley.

McPherson allowed three runs on six hits to improve her record to 6-2 on the year.

teammates Lanie Shuba went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, while Lindsey Buckner went 3-for-4, respectively, for the Saints (6-4).
