Red Mountain quarterback Mason Thorman tied a big-school state record with six touchdowns passes to lead the Mountain Lions to a 56-13 rout over visiting Gilbert on Friday night.

Thorman, who has now thrown 19 touchdowns on the season, hooked up with wide receiver Aeron Carr on four of the six scores for the Mountain Lions (5-0), who cruised to their fifth win in as many games. Thorman joins a half-dozen other quarterbacks from Class 5A/Division I/II who've thrown six TD passes.

Thanks to running back Adarian Limbs, Red Mountain also got the job done on the ground, as well, as he rushed for over 100 yards on the night.

Red Mountain will travel to Desert Ridge in one of the bigger matchups next Friday night. With the loss, the Tigers dropped to 1-4 on the year.

Hamilton 38, Mesquite 10: AJ Thigpen threw for 134 yards and had two touchdowns as the visiting Huskies (3-2) jumped on the Wildcats early and often. After Thigpen ran 28 yards for a touchdown to give Hamilton a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter, Mesquite fumbled on the next play from scrimmage and Cole Luke returned it 13 yards for the score to make it 14-0. After the Huskies scored two more times in the second quarter to take 28-3 lead into halftime, their defense took over, holding the Wildcats (0-5) to just 64 total yards in the second half despite the starters playing only one series. Payton Haslam threw a late 17-yard touchdown pass to Nolan Tondreau for the Wildcats touchdown.

Brophy 56, North Canyon 7: Marche Dennard rushed 15 times for 173 yards and three scores, while quarterback Tyler Bruggman finished 11-for-15 for 158 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Broncos(4-2) to the road victory. After the Rattlers (0-5) scored on a Onuch Okwoli 2-yard run to take a 7-0 lead, Brophy’s defense shut them down led by Brian Woodward had six tackles and an interception return for a touchdown, while teammate Andrew Curtis had eight tackles. Brophy will host No. 1 Mountain Pointe at Phoenix College next Friday.

Queen Creek 63, Apache Junction 0: Led by Matt Guida’s 10 carries for 212 yards and four scores, and Eric Jones’ six carries for 100 yards and two more touchdowns, the Bulldogs ran over the Prospectors. Queen Creek improved to a perfect 5-0 in the process. For the game, Queen Creek rushed 32 times for a total of 448 yards. Defensively, the Bulldogs tallied six sacks and held host-Apache Junction (0-5) to only 55 total yards.

Campo Verde 28, Poston Butte 0: The Coyotes (3-2) defense came up with five turnovers, while their offense scored four touchdowns, including two in the second quarter, to beat the host Broncos (3-2) and improve their overall record to 3-2.

Paradise Valley 56, Moon Valley 18: Trojans quarterback Ryan Finley threw for 267 yards and five touchdowns as visiting Paradise Valley (3-2) hung 41 first-quarter points on the Rockets (1-4). Jordan Brown did his part, returning two kickoffs for scores, including one that went for 96 yards.

Coronado 35, Valley Christian 13: The Dons defense picked off two Trojan passes en route to their second win of the year. Host Coronado (2-3) outrushed Valley Christian, racking up 215 yards on 24 carries. The loss dropped the Trojans to 2-3 overall.
