Despite two blocked punts by sophomore linebacker Shawn Lafferty, Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep couldn't overcome three lost fumbles as the Saints lost a rain-soaked affair to Prescott Valley Bradshaw Mountain, 13-6, in 4A Wells Fargo II Region play.
The rain and lightning, which forced a 20-minute delay in the third quarter, made a sloppy game even worse, but the Saints still had a chance to tie the game late in the fourth quarter.
Junior quarterback Sean Renfree led Notre Dame inside the Bears' 5-yard line with less then three minutes to go, but three failed runs and an incomplete pass to senior Mike Greco ended the Saints' chances.
Junior tailback Andrew Stutz scored the only points of the game for the Saints, a one-yard dive up the middle with less than a minute to go in the second quarter, a drive set up by Lafferty's first blocked punt.
