Two East Valley teams got to see themselves in the big gold ball Saturday after winning state basketball championships.

In 2A, the Scottsdale Christian boys (31-2) completed a dominating, two-year run by beating Phoenix Arizona Lutheran, 62-41, at Glendale Arena. It was the Eagles’ second straight championship.

In 3A, Fountain Hills won its firstever 3A state championship, capping a 32-1 season with a 59-50 victory over Tuba City Greyhills Academy.

The Seton Catholic girls and their McDonald’s All-American forward Christina Wirth had their title hopes dashed by Winslow. The Bulldogs won their second 3A title in a row, beating the Sentinels 61-35, despite Wirth’s 27 points.
