Basha boys basketball stars Jaron Hopkins and Torren Jones are transferring to Dobson, Hopkins said in a text message.
The duo has contemplated leaving the Bears since the forced resignation of coach Brad Pinter following the season.
Hopkins averaged 21.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 5.3 steals per game last year and has multiple high-major scholarship offers, including one from Arizona.
Jones averaged 19.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game last year and is also one of the highest-ranked seniors-to-be in the state.
Jones and Hopkins will join Kodi Justice, a junior small forward who has already committed to Arizona State. That trio would automatically make the Mustangs the preseason favorites to win the Division I state championship.
Cheryl Jones, Torren's mother, also confirmed the transfer of Torren. Dobson coach Rick McConnell did not immediately return a phone call.
Hopkins and Jones have also been invited to join the Westwind Prep national team, which is not associated with the Arizona Interscholastic Association and will play a national schedule. The possibility of joining that team still exists before the school year begins, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.
