Horizon High will be looking for its third football coach since the end of the 2001 season after Keith Brown resigned Tuesday, effective at the end of March.
Brown has accepted a position with Sacramento (Calif.) High School to be their head football coach and to hold a leadership position with former Phoenix Sun Kevin Johnson’s organization, Saint Hope Academy.
"Kevin’s program needs my help and as a friend I want to lend my support," Brown said. "I will miss the players, parents and administration that I got to know at Horizon and feel confident the program will be in good hands with my successor."
Brown coached the Huskies the past two seasons. Horizon was 11-10 during those two years, including 7-4 this past season when the Huskies were the 5A Desert Valley Region champs.
"Coach Brown did an excellent job here at Horizon High School and saw this as an opportunity he could not pass up for family and financial reasons," Horizon athletic director John Pierce said. "I wish Keith the best of luck with the challenges of his new position."
Before coming to Horizon, Brown coached 10 years at Phoenix Christian.
