Fountain Hills had already locked up the 3A West Region championship before traveling to Goodyear Estrella Foothills for the regular season finale Friday. All that was left was finishing region play undefeated and the Falcons took care of that in a big way.

Led by seniors H.P. Rollins and Alex Groh, Fountain Hills beat Estrella Foothills 40-15 to close region play 6-0.

The Falcons (8-2 overall) will host the fourth-seeded team from the North Region, Kayenta Monument Valley, next week in the first round of the 3A state playoffs.

Rollins rushed for scores from 7, 5 and 60 yards out for the Falcons (8-2 overall), finishing with 182 yards on 18 carries.

Groh was responsible for all three of Fountain Hills' second-half scores, as the quarterback scored from 3, 1 and 7 yards out. Groh also completed 6-of-12 passes for 137 yards but was intercepted twice by Estrella Foothills (2-7, 2-4).

The Falcons' defense forced three turnovers — a fumble recovered by Dan Baker and interceptions by Jarred Trulson and Mike Krause.
