Chandler Seton Catholic has filled its head football coaching position by hiring a man with more than three decades of experience at the high school level.

The Sentinels picked Rex Bowser, who coached in Indiana for 33 years, 29 as a head coach, from a pool of more than 20 applicants. He replaces Rodger Schenks, who resigned in June after one year to take a job at Mesa Red Mountain.

Bowser, 58, moved to Arizona three years ago to be closer to his children and grandchildren and had been coaching a semi-pro team.

His desire, though, was always to return to preps.

β€œI got out of it for a little bit, but I missed it too badly,” Bowser said. β€œIt was something I really needed to get back to doing.”
