Andrea Clark had two goals as Dobson beat Mountain View 2-1 in the semi-finals of the East Valley Region girls soccer tournament Friday at Red Mountain Park in Mesa.

The Toros took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Shelbey Nielsen in the first half.

Dobson will play Red Mountain at 3 p.m. today in the championship game. Mountain View will face Mesa at 1 p.m. in the thirdplace game.


Finley O’Neill scored three goals as visiting Highland defeated Desert Ridge 7-0 in a 5A Fiesta Region game. The Hawks (17-4, 9-1) finished the season as the region champions. ...

Jose Avelino and Philip Michieli each had a goal as Gilbert (14-5- 2, 8-2) defeated host Mesquite (10-10, 4-6) in a 5A Fiesta Region match. ...

Visiting Chandler beat Hamilton 3-1 in overtime of a 5A Fiesta Region game. The win clinched third place in the region for the Wolves (8-9-1, 6-4). Gabe Santa- Cruz and Kyle Holbrook had the overtime goals for Chandler.


Arcadia remained perfect in the 4A East Sky Region with its 64-45 home victory over Queen Creek. Charles Ward scored a game-high 26 points for the Titans (14-13, 8-0). ...

Nick Witherill poured in 27 points to help Saguaro (20-4, 6- 0) cruise by visiting McClintock, 83-62, in 4A Desert Sky Region play. ...

Kyle Smith’s jumper with two seconds left lifted Desert Mountain to a 50-48 5A Desert Valley Region win over visiting Brophy. Smith finished with 20 points. ...

Paradise Valley scored 27 fourth-quarter points to defeat Shadow Mountain 75-57 in a 5A Desert Valley Region game.

Javon Jones scored a teamhigh 23 points for the Trojans (14-9, 4-2). ...

Jerryd Bayless poured in 44 points and St. Mary’s rolled by Horizon at home, 82-66, in a 5A Desert Valley Region matchup.


McClintock rallied to defeat visiting Saguaro 55-51 in a 4A Desert Sky Region game. With the Chargers down by five, Janine Castro took over and scored 8 points in the final 1:30. Castro finished the game with 21 points. ...

Jade Wilson had 21 points as visiting Tempe beat Coronado 63-56 in a 4A East Sky Region game. Shaya Harrison added 14 points for the Buffaloes (6-2 region). Tabatha Williams led the Dons with 18 points (2-5 region).
