A sloppy first half cost Valley Christian on Friday night, as the visiting Trojans fell to Phoenix Bourgade Catholic 30-0 in the regular-season finale of 2A Metro Region play.
Running back Steven Ramirez had 16 carries for 128 yards and two touchdowns, all before halftime, for Bourgade (7-2, 4-1 Metro).
Yellow flags were in abundance, particularly in the first half, as both teams finished with more than 100 yards in penalties. With the loss, Valley Christian (5-4, 3-3) finishes as the Metro's fourth seed for the upcoming 2A state playoffs.
The Trojans next Friday travel to Florence for a first-round playoff game.
