Red Mountain hung on for a 55-54 road win over Phoenix North on Tuesday night in boys basketball.
Justin Park led the Lions (8-1) with 14 points and Juan Zuniga added 13 points. The Mustangs (4-3) had one final shot to win but missed 10-foot shot from the baseline before the buzzer.
Kevin Torres added seven points and nine assists for Red Mountain. Neither team led by more than six points the entire game.
In other boys basketball action, visiting Paradise Valley snuck past Cactus Shadows, 83-81. Paul Watson led all scorers in the game with 28 points for the Trojans (5-1). Chris Davis added 17 points and Brodie Cunningham finished with 13 points.
Paradise Valley led by 11 with three and half minutes left in the fourth quarter, but turnovers and poor shooting allowed the Falcons to come back. Cactus Shadows had one final shot to win but their 3-pointer missed.
Austin Horton led the Falcons with 16 points and Mike Rabbini added 14 points.
Girls Basketball
Arcadia beat Tempe 46-35. Gabrielle Evans led the Titans (7-1) with 14 points. Taylor Steger and Megan Gillespie added 13 points apiece for Arcadia. Tempe was led by Daviana Shaw with 11 points.
Boys Soccer
Brian Perea scored three goals to lead Mesa past Desert Mountain in the Tempe Diablos Classic at Tempe Sports Complex. Alexis Adame, Alex Gutierrez, Nate Ybarra and Carlos Ibarra each scored goals for the Jackrabbits.
Girls Soccer
Highland beat Mountain View 7-1 in the Tempe Diablos Classic at Tempe Sports Complex. Jaden Degracie had five assists for the Hawks.
