Phoenix North Canyon ended Paradise Valley’s 5A-II playoff run with a 21-10 first-round victory Friday at North Canyon.

“We played our hearts out,” Trojans coach Donnie Yantis said. “We put the ball on the ground and controlled the clock, but we turned the ball over twice.”

Seniors Michael Williams and Charles Hubbard led Paradise Valley with 132 yards and 72 yards rushing, respectively. Williams ran for 101 yards in the first half, with the Trojans controlling the ball for 14 minutes.

The second half was a different story as North Canyon racked up 243 yards rushing, keeping the ball for 19 minutes and holding the Trojans to 65 yards rushing and 11 yards passing. Jordan Scott paced the Rattlers with 145 yards. Teammates John Mahr and Tyler Peterson added 63 and 54 yards, respectively.
