A fireworks display before and after McClintock’s 21-7 win over visiting Glendale on Friday night was not the only air show in this 4A Skyline Region.

The Chargers (5-3, 4-0 Skyline) lit up sky with their passing attack, rolling up 227 passing yards and a pair of long scoring plays.

"I think the good thing about today’s win is that we did throw the ball and other teams are going to have to respect that," McClintock coach Steve Campbell said.

The air attack started early as the Chargers scored on the third play from scrimmage when quarterback Gavin Lemusu hooked up with wide receiver Xavier Lucas on a 61-yard touchdown play.

The shifty quarterback had a part in all three of his team’s touchdowns. His 14-yard scoring run put the Chargers up 14-0 going into halftime.

Lemusu was not done passing to Lucas. After Glendale had cut the lead to 14-7, Lemusu hit the quick receiver on a 78-yard touchdown pass at the start of the fourth quarter to push the Chargers’ lead back to 14.

Last week against Phoenix Sunnyslope, Lucas caught a 90-yard touchdown pass and now has four touchdown receptions on the season

"He’s a big-play type kid," Campbell said.

"Every time he touches the ball, he can go to the house."
