Outlook: Chandler’s ability to win the tough games is the one glaring change from last year that’s helped the Wolves to a 5-0 mark.

Touchdown wins over Brophy and Red Mountain have given them a 2-0 record in games decided by a TD or less. Last year they were 1-4 in such games.

Mesquite is struggling when a play or series goes against it. The Wildcats have played tough against St. Mary’s, Desert Vista and Mountain Pointe but only for a half or better.

“When something doesn’t go our way, we hang our heads,” Mesquite coach Rich Iversen said. “We’re not handling adversity very well. We have a lot of youth and they have a tendency to hang their heads when something goes wrong.’’

Mesquite was within 13-6 of Mountain Pointe in the third period last week but ended up losing 35-6.

Address: 500 S. McQueen Road, Gilbert

Records: Chandler 5-0; Mesquite 2-3

Last year’s meeting: Chandler 28, Mesquite 19
