Valley Christian simply had no answer for Arizona Lutheran’s rushing attack as the Coyotes blanked the visiting Trojans, 19-0, in a 2A Metro Region contest Friday night.
Arizona Lutheran (3-1, 1-1 Metro) running back Andy Schroeder gained 305 yards on 36 carries. He accounted for all of the Coyotes’ points, scoring on runs of 1, 15 and 26 yards.
Valley Christian (2-2, 0-2) moved the ball well at times, but couldn’t get into the end zone. Twice in the fourth quarter, the Trojans had the ball within Arizona Lutheran’s 10-yard line, only to turn the ball over on downs.
Shawn Smith had 84 yards rushing on 17 carries for Valley Christian, which failed to score for the second straight game.
Trojans coach Sean Loomer chalked up his team’s struggles to inexperience. Valley Christian has 16 players who are freshmen or sophomores.
