Saguaro opened play in the Greenway Festival tournament with a pair of wins. In the first game, the Sabercats beat Dakota Ridge (Colo.) 4-1. Matt Anderson pitched a complete game with no walks, and one run on five hits. Scott Zuloaga had a double on two hits. In the second game, Saguaro beat Timberline (Idaho) 9-2 led by Chris Horvitich’s two-RBI performance.

Heidi Purtzer had a great game at both the plate and the mound for Scottsdale Christian as the Eagles rolled past Arizona Lutheran 20-0 in a 2A Metro Region game called after five innings. Purtzer, who was relieved by Kacie Lyding in the fourth inning, helped hold the Coyotes to no hits. She also had a grand slam and a solo homer. Alex Petznick added two doubles for the Eagles. … Bree Ensminger had a homer and two RBIs as host Red Mountain beat Yuma 5-1 in a 5A nonregion game.
