Cactus Shadows coach Chad DeGrenier will be the next coach at Mountain View, according to athletic director Shawn Rustad.

He's expected to be approved at the Mesa District Governing Board meeting on March 8.

DeGrenier coached Cactus Shadows to the 4A Division II state championship in 2006. The Falcons moved up to 4A-I and struggled for two season, but went 11-1 in 2009 and 7-4 last season.

A former quarterback in college and the Arena Football League, DeGrenier's teams are known for offensive innovations. His teams have set state records in passing and receiving.

DeGrenier replaces Tom Joseph, who was fired at the end of last season and has since become Corona del Sol's football coach. The hiring concludes what became a drawn-out process last more than four months and included the school having to publicly post the position a second time.

A little more than a year ago, DeGrenier resigned at Cactus Shadows to take a high school job in Colorado, but changed his mind and returned to the Cave Creek school.
