A night after forging a 1-1 tie on a penalty kick, Campo Verde's girls soccer team made a late night of it again.
This time it worked even better.
For the third time this season, the Coyotes defeated Higley. This time a 1-0 victory on Wednesday night that likely give the Coyotes (10-1-1) a top-4 seed and two home matches in the Division III state tournament next week.
And for the second consecutive night, Breanna Olson saved the day. She hit a penalty kick against Sunrise Mountain on Tuesday to forge the 1-1 final. Then nailed another PK on Wednesday for the lone goal of the match.
Girls Soccer
Arcadia 8, Camelback 0: Arcadia finished off a perfect power point season with the win. Early first-half injuries to Megan Hawkins and Tasha Friedman hampered the Titans' offense, but the Titans still forged a 2-0 lead. A more possession-minded and patient attack saw the Arcadia girls score six unanswered goals in the second half. Seniors Rachel DeTullio and Natalie Honan each scored twice on the night as Arcadia honored its graduating seniors.
Boys Soccer
Campo Verde 5, McClintock 1: Sam Gleadle scored twice for the Coyotes in the win, while Devin Ries, Eric Mormon and Luke Gleadle also scored. Luke Gleadle and Ries also had assists.
