VX Football Roundup 9/9: Foster strikes again for Saguaro

D.J. Foster scored four times to lead visiting Saguaro past Tempe, 63-6, in a Division III, Section III game on Friday night.

The Sabercats rushed for 205 yards and scored six rushing touchdowns, led by Foster who scored from 25, 1 and 20 yards out. Foster also hauled in a 60-yard touchdown pass from Luke Rubenzer.

The Sabercats fumbled the ball four times but were fortunate to not lose a single one. The Sabercats move to 3-0 on season and Tempe drops to 0-3.

Williams Field 28, Campo Verde 9: Alex Howard rushed for 250 yards and four touchdowns as host Williams Field beat Campo Verde, 28-9, in a Division III, Section II game on Friday night. The Black Hawks improve to 3-0 on the season and Campo Verde drops to 1-2. The Coyotes opened the season with a nice win over Apache Junction but have now dropped two in a row.

Marcos de Niza 48, Maricopa 0: Host Marcos de Niza beat Maricopa in a game that was called just after the start of the second half. The Padres are now 2-1 on the season and will travel to Perry next week.

Horizon 45, Shadow Mountain 8: Horizon beat Shadow Mountain in a Division II, Section III game. Dushawn Brown caught two passes for 100 yards, both of which went for touchdowns. Kyle Woods threw for 159 yards and three touchdowns on 8-for-11 passing.

Pinnacle 49, Central 0: Visiting Pinnacle beat Central in a game that was called at the start of the third quarter due to lightning. Jackson Harley had two touchdown passes for the Pioneers (3-1).

Seton Catholic 21, Tempe Prep 6: Seton Catholic stayed hot by beating Tempe Prep in a non-division game. The Sentinels (Division IV) improved to 3-0 on the season and Tempe Prep (Division V) dropped to 2-1.

Scottsdale Prep 50, Salt River 8: Visiting Scottsdale Prep beat Salt River in a Division VI, Section III game. Aidan Wright had his third consecutive five-touchdown performance. Wright finished 13-for-20 with 223 yards passing and the five touchdown strikes. Wright's favorite target on the night was Matt Munsil who had six catches for 175 yards and three touchdowns. Scottsdale Prep improved to 3-0 on the season and Salt River dropped to 0-3.

Northwest Christian 56, Scottsdale Christian 7: Northwest Christian handed Scottsdale Christian its third straight loss to open the season. Scottsdale Christian turned the ball over four times (three interceptions and one fumble). The Eagles scored their lone touchdown on a touchdown run by Chaz Dudley. Scottsdale Christian will host Alchesay next week, looking for its first win.
