Tempe Union School District's director of communications Linda Littell said the district is waiting on a resignation letter from Desert Vista girls basketball coach Jaysie Chambers-Sheppard.

Littell said if it is not received by Friday, then the process of firing Chambers-Sheppard would be put in motion.

The first-year coach Chambers-Sheppard allegedly had an incident with one of the players during a timeout in Friday’s loss at Mountain Pointe, according to several sources.

Littell said there were several complaints by parents from the start of the season and the latest “brought it to a head.”

Junior varsity coach Jontar Coleman was named interim coach as the Thunder host Phoenix Sandra Day O’Connor on Tuesday.

One of the worst coaches I've ever seen coaching AZ girls basketball. All I ever heard during timeouts was her yelling at her players. And the way her players played were dangerous not only to the other team but her own players. Hope she never coaches again unless she does alot of anger management classes.
