Mesa Red Mountain filled its vacant varsity wrestling position this week, hiring Mesa assistant Dave DiDomenico.

DiDomenico replaces Nick Karantinos, who resigned in February to spend more time with his family after a 15-year stint as coach of the Mountain Lions. DiDomenico has served as an assistant to Bobby Williams the past four seasons at Mesa. Mesa won the 5A Division I state team title the past two seasons.

DiDomenico, who teaches social studies, brings 17 years of coaching experience to Red Mountain, where he served as an assistant coach earlier this decade.

Former Chandler High boys and girls swimming coach Richard Johnson will join the coaching staff at Mesa Skyline this fall. Johnson resigned earlier this spring after a long tenure at Chandler. He will join Skyline boys coach Pete Caruso and girls coach Kathy Myrmel.
