A collection of some of the best East Valley high school football performances from the first round of the 2012 playoffs:

Gena Adams, Saguaro: He rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown and caught two touchdown passes for 70 yards in a win over Glendale Cactus.

Kyle Allen, Desert Mountain: The junior quarterback threw for 334 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Mountain View.

Mark Andrews, Desert Mountain: The junior receiver had 11 catches for 177 yards and three touchdowns, including a 48-yard Hail Mary TD catch at the end of the first half in a win over Mountain View.

Ryan Bresnahan, Seton Catholic: The senior quarterback shared success with David Gesicki as Bresnahan threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns on six completions in a win over Chinle. He also rushed for 81 yards.

Aeron Carr, Red Mountain: The senior wideout had 118 rushing yards, 52 receiving yards and two touchdowns in the Lions’ win over Sierra Vista Buena.

Clarence Clark, Brophy: The senior receiver caught 195 of QB Tyler Bruggman’s 330 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Chandler.

Qualen Cunningham, Hamilton: The junior defensive end had a 21-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Huskies’ win over Highland.

Desert Ridge defense: The Jaguars held Valley Vista to 34 yards rushing, 4 of 16 completions in the passing game, forced three turnovers and blocked a punt in the win.

Daniel Fedorka, Desert Mountain: He rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns, had a 48-yard kickoff return and made four tackles on defense to beat Mountain View.

Ryan Finley, Paradise Valley: The Boise State-commit concluded a brilliant career with 274 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to Peoria Liberty.

Darell Garretson, Chandler: The senior quarterback capped his career with 395 yards passing, four touchdowns plus a rushing TD in a loss to Brophy.

Daniel Garlid, Seton Catholic: The wideout had 163 yards receiving and two touchdowns on five catches in Seton’s win over Chinle.

Zechariah Gatling, Scottsdale Christian: He rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns in limited action as SCA blew out Pinon in the first round of the Div. V playoffs.

Mike Graff, Queen Creek: He returned his ninth interception of the season 91 yards for a touchdown in Q.C.’s win. His nine INT leads the state, according to MaxPreps.com

Matt Guida, Queen Creek: The junior running back had 12 carries for 184 yards and three touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ win over Avondale Agua Fria.

Austin Hicks, Desert Vista: The senior had a 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, knocked away a key 4th-and-1 pass and made the game-clinching interception in the end zone with one hand in a 35-28 win over Basha.

Jarek Hilgers, Desert Vista: The senior rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown in a win over Basha.

Christian Kirk, Saguaro: The junior caught six passes for 167 yards and a score in Saguaro’s rout over Glendale Cactus.

Mitch McCulley, Chandler: He had 127 yards receiving and a TD on seven catches in a loss to Brophy.

Tarek Morrison, Desert Ridge: The junior quarterback rushed for 90 yards, threw for 84 yards and had three total touchdowns in a win over Surprise Valley Vista.

Mountain Pointe defense: Led by Wesley Payne and Jalen Brown, the Pride have allowed eight points in the past four games combined.

Nate Phillips, Basha: The senior wide receiver capped his brilliant career with 124 yards and a touchdown in a loss to Desert Vista.

Luke Pineda, Campo Verde: The senior finished 18-of-28 passing for 217 yards with a touchdown. He also rushed the ball 25 times for 140 yards and a touchdown in a loss to Williams Field.

Forest Redlin, Tempe Prep: He finished with 84 yards and a touchdown pass, while also grabbing an interception in the Knights’ 14-0 win over Eagar Round Valley.

Jake Roh, Chaparral: The senior wide receiver/linebacker had a TD catch and returned a tip-drill interception 65 yards for a score in Chaparral’s win over Perry.

Luke Rubenzer, Saguaro: The junior quarterback threw for 293 yards and a career-high five touchdowns, and ran for 104 yards in a blowout win over Glendale Cactus.

Sean Schweichler, Williams Field: The senior running back had punt returns of 45 yards and a 65-yard return for a touchdown in Williams Field’s win over Campo Verde.

Ciyre Simmons, Mountain Pointe: The defensive back returned an interception 80 yards for a TD and showed some moves along the way in the third quarter of a blowout win over Yuma Cibola.

Marcus Still, Queen Creek: Next to Guida, he rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns on six carries in the Bulldogs’ victory over Avondale Agua Fria.

A.J. Thigpen, Hamilton: The senior quarterback threw for 218 yards and two touchdowns on 9-of-10 passing, including an 86-yard TD to Tyler Eggers, in a win over Highland.
