It's hard to know where it will come from each game - or even each quarter - but the Gilbert boys basketball team continues to deliver.

The ninth-ranked Tigers used another balanced effort to knock off No. 8 Dobson, 62-45, on Friday night in a Division I power points game at Gilbert.

Cody Martin led the way with 13 points and seven rebounds as the team won its sixth consecutive game, all of which have come by 15 points or more. The victims have included Highland, Mesquite, No. 2 Basha and now the Mustangs, who had won four in a row coming in.

Austin Harper added 12 points, while Conner Helvig and Erik Crawford each had nine.

"Every game it seems like someone else is leading us in scoring," Gilbert coach Jay Caserio said. "We're a very balanced team, which makes it hard to guard."

The Tigers (15-4) jumped out to a 27-21 halftime lead by nailing 6-of-12 from three-point range, and Harper hit a pair from downtown to begin the third quarter to extend the lead to 33-21. Gilbert looked like it might pull away there, but Dobson began to find a groove.

Marcus Tipton had seven of his 10 points in a span of less than two minutes to cut the deficit to 39-30 midway through the third quarter, and then thought he was fouled while corralling a Gilbert missed shot. A jump ball was called instead, and Tipton slammed the ball to the floor in frustration. He was called for a technical foul and then ejected after continuing to complain about the call.

The Tigers went on a 7-1 run after the play and cruised to the win. Tipton is suspended for Tuesday's game against Red Mountain due to the ejection.

Gilbert improves to 11-2 in power point games. It entered the game seventh in the Division I power point standings. The top eight teams get a first-round bye.

The Mustangs drop to 9-5. They were in eighth in the power points entering the contest. Kyle Tomlinson led Dobson (16-8) with 13 points and nine rebounds.

With two weeks remaining in the regular season, Gilbert is one of the hottest teams in the state. The Tigers aren't particularly imposing on the court, but run their offense with patience and shoot the ball well.

"It's our team chemistry," Martin said. "We can all trust one another. It's really good to see us as a team work the ball around and hit open shots."
