Another local TV network is joining the high school football fray this fall, as Fox Sports Net Arizona will televise eight games on Thursday and Friday nights this season.
FSN Arizona joins Cox (Ch. 7) in broadcasting high school football. A spokesman for the Arizona Interscholastic Association said they’re still waiting for Cox to finalize its TV schedule.
It will be the first time FSN Arizona has televised AIA-sanctioned high school football since 2000.
The first two televised games will be Thursday nights: Peoria vs. Scottsdale Saguaro on Sept. 17 and Goodyear Millennium vs. Peoria Centennial on Sept. 24.
Then the network will switch to Friday nights. The Chandler rivalry (Chandler vs. Hamilton) and a rematch of last year’s 5A Division I state championship game (Hamilton vs. Phoenix Brophy) will be televised in October, along with Mesa Mountain View (twice), Gilbert Highland and Chandler Basha.
Brad Steinke and Mark McClune wiil rotate as play-by-play announcers for FSN Arizona, while analysts will be determined in the coming weeks.
