Updated boys basketball rankings as of Jan. 31:

1. Mesa 15-4

2. Corona del Sol 17-3

3. North 19-4

4. Mountain View 17-3

5. Cesar Chavez 19-3

Corona del Sol and Mountain View flip-flop after the Aztecs beat the Toros in a road game on Tuesday. Mesa and North stay put, while Cesar Chavez replaces Desert Vista at No. 5 on the strength of an eight-game winning streak. Hamilton beat the Thunder to push them out.

1. Pinnacle 18-3

2. Desert Mountain 15-6

3. Horizon 12-8

4. Chaparral 15-7

5. Fairfax 13-6

Chaparral lost a pair of games last week to drop to No. 4, while Horizon jumped up to No. 3 after beating the Firebirds and losing to Pinnacle on a last-second, desperation heave by Drew Bender from beyond halfcourt. Desert Mountain is up to No. 2 after a perfect week. Fairfax barely beat Maryvale to drop to No. 5, while Central was throttled by Dobson without its best player, Robert Selmon, and falls out of the rankings.

1. Raymond S. Kellis 17-3

2. Peoria 17-5

3. Saguaro 15-8

4. Agua Fria 14-7

5. McClintock 15-9

The top-3 stay the same, and Agua Fria moves up a spot on the strength of a win over Apollo, which drops out. McClintock is back in at No. 5 with three straight wins and nine of its past 10.

1. Amphitheater 21-2

2. Arcadia 22-1

3. Desert Edge 17-6

4. Thunderbird 16-6

5. Tempe 18-7

Amphitheater and Arcadia keep rolling and are the clear top-two. Desert Edge moves up a couple spots because Thunderbird and Tempe both lost, although both stayed in based on their entire bodies of work.

1. Fountain Hills 23-5

2. Holbrook 23-4

3. Blue Ridge 21-4

4. Florence 16-8

5. Winslow 22-6

Fountain Hills lost last week, but it was to 2A power Scottsdale Christian, so the Falcons aren’t penalized. Holbrook had a nice win over Winslow to stay at No. 2, and Blue Ridge doesn’t budge from No. 3. Florence enters the rankings at No. 4 with six straight wins, while Winslow holds tight at No. 5.

1. Westwind Prep 24-1

2. Scottsdale Christian Academy 18-3

3. Northwest Christian 20-4

4. Thatcher 21-2

5. Valley Christian 17-4

Westwind Prep survived a scare from No. 2 Scottsdale Christian, proving that a 2A title isn’t a formality. The Eagles stay at No. 2, and Northwest Christian, Thatcher and Valley Christian all went undefeated last week to keep their spots in the rankings.

1. Gilbert Christian 22-3

2. Orme 15-0

3. Valley Lutheran 20-7

4. Tanque Verde 22-2

5. Veritas Prep 16-6

Gilbert Christian hasn’t lost since its coaching change, and still looks like the favorite in 1A. Orme is on its heels, though. Valley Lutheran lost to Gilbert Christian by 14, but that’s close enough to warrant a move up to No. 3 because Veritas Prep lost twice last week. Tanque Verde has won 17 in a row to climb to No. 4, while Veritas Prep drops to No. 5.
