Anthem Boulder Creek is in its first varsity football season and it showed against Scottsdale Chaparral Friday night.
The host Firebirds, ranked No. 2 in 4A Division I, scored on their first seven possessions en route to a 53-0 win. Chaparral improved to 3-0 on the season, outscoring its opponents 148-0.
Chaparral quarterback Casey Lytle played only in the first half and finished 7-for-10 for 100 yards and two touchdown passes. He also had two short scoring runs.
Ross Kamela rushed for 108 yards on 10 carries, all in the first half, during which the Firebirds gained 275 yards of total offense.
