Big League Dugout Invitational

When: Monday through Thursday

Schedule: Pool play Monday through Wednesday; championship game on Thursday at 7:07 p.m. at Horizon H.S. on Cox TV (ch. 7).

Where: Horizon, Chaparral, Corona del Sol, Hamilton and Brophy baseball fields

Teams: Horizon, Chaparral, Corona del Sol, Hamilton, Brophy, Forsyth County Day (N.C), Montclair Prep (Calif.), Spanish Fork (Utah), Libertyville (Ill.), Columbine (Co.), La Jolla Country Day (Calif.), Harvard-Westlake (Calif.), Regis Jesuit (Colo.), Bishop Gorman (Nev.), Downers Grove South (Ill.) and Brighton (Colo.).

Outlook: Some of the top baseball teams in the country converge in the East Valley for the Big League Dugout Invitational. In addition to the strong local programs, Bishop Gorman (ranked first nationally by Maxpreps.com), Spanish Fork (No. 9 nationally by ESPN) and others will test their mettle in one of the country’s finest prep baseball tournaments. Hamilton won the tournament last year and has enough returning talent to make a run at the crown again this season, as do several other teams.
